Over 65s

Our programs

Myrtle Cottage aims to promote companionship through socialisation and interactive activities that support wellness for people to stay living in their own homes and community longer. We do this by offering a range of day activities at our purpose built facility in Ingleburn or alternate premises in Camden and at joint community events. For people who are frail aged, 65 years plus, younger people with disabilities 18 years plus and people with dementia running Monday to Saturday.

The Diversional Therapy program

The Diversional Therapy program offers activities for members 65 years plus at our purpose built Centre giving participants the opportunity to socialise with people their own age/interest.

Activities at the Cottage are arranged in consultation with the members and vary from day to day. An activity program is distributed every 6 weeks and includes things like; craft, small interest groups, games, quizzes, guest speakers and outings. The program operates Monday to Friday.

Community Link Line program

Community Link Line program is a telephone conferencing program that has been designed to reach those who are socially isolated or would like to socialise with people their own age/interest from their own home.

Our telephone system allows our coordinator to involve up to 7 people from the community in a program run over the phone, with each session lasting approximately 1 hour. It involves general discussion, guest speakers, games, quizzes and craft activities. Members can also join in outings with the Divisional Therapy program. The program operates Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Flexible Respite program

Flexible Respite program provides short term support up to two hours in the home to meet the needs of the carer and member. It can give you both a break and can also give you the chance to meet new people or attend an appointment. The program provides social support to members by way of providing an activity in the home, assisting with a task or the occasional trip to the local shop or café. The program operates on Monday to Friday.

Outings

Outings are provided every 6 weeks and include visits to many local and regional places of interest. Where an admission fee or other expenditure is involved, members will be advised of the cost. If members agree to participate they will contribute that cost in addition to the daily client contribution.

Costs

There is a client contribution fee payable for each day of attendance and costs associated with outings.
For further information please contact the Cottage and ask to speak with the Coordinator.
