My husband attended Myrtle Cottage in the Bell program for a few years enjoying the activities and social interaction that it provided. He always came home with huge smile on his face and a full belly. He made many friendships whilst attending, I found the staff exceptional in their dedication to him.
“My 88 year old mother has been attending the Bell program since mid last year. It has been an absolute godsend for both her and myself. Her dementia was slightly evident before the Covid lockdowns, but has become substantially worse since. After the lockdowns she had lost all confidence to leave her home & socialise to any extent. Her depression was to the extent that she refused to even attend family gatherings.
The Bell program was recommended to me by a beautiful, caring ,lady that assessed mum through myagedcare. Because mum was so withdrawn from society, I accompanied her to Myrtle Cottage to ensure that she was comfortable there. That was a very short process. From the get go she was welcomed by the beautiful caring staff & hasn’t looked back.
Her whole personality has changed. She is happy & looks forward to the days at the cottage, no signs of the depressed, withdrawn person she was before she started attending the Bell program.! As a carer, I have had nothing but positive interactions with every team member that I have met. Christine and her staff are making a world of difference to dementia patients and their families. In my eyes they definitely deserve a gold medal. I can’t thank them enough for what they do, not only for my mother, but everyone in their care.”
